An artful blend of economy and luxury, the Summit Conversion boasts a patented fold-out ramp unlike any other. Combining form with functionality, this conversion really is the best of both worlds.

The system is fully powered but, at any time in its operation, can be worked manually. Our patented design counterbalances the ramp to eliminate 70% of the weight, making its operation so effortless it can be opened or closed with one hand. Plus, there's no need for a cumbersome release lever to deploy the ramp, just push down or pull up and the ramp does the rest. But don't let its featherweight appearance fool you. Despite the Summit's ease of operation, the ramp is just as tough as it is simple to use, readily supporting a weight of 700 pounds.

We designed the ramp to be the least intrusive possible. Pull a knob, and the ramp swings out in the folded position -- it doesn't block the door or the window. Plus, the electronic ramp actuator sits discreetly inside the van in a unique vertical configuration, providing a cleaner, less cluttered passenger entrance.

Inside the Summit Conversion

Like the Northstar, we offer a unique power sliding door operator. Not only can you stop the door at any point during the remote operation and use it manually, but VMI is the only lowered-floor converter to keep the original manufacturer's door locks. Other conversions get in the way, relying on additional after market releases or levers to keep the door in place. Your safety comes first and we realize it's best to keep the door locks the way they are. The thousands of Summit owners surely agree.

Identical to the Summit ramp, the Trekker is the most economical conversion around. This system is fully manual and uses the same counterbalanced ramp design to provide a simple, inexpensive mode of accessible transportation.
